Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in early childhood, child care, or closely related field. Possess or be qualified to receive Louisiana Pathways Trainer approval and CLASS certification.

  • Bachelor's degree or college work in child development, early childhood, child and family studies or closely related field preferred.

  • Experience in conducting workshops, seminars, or other training for adults; good public speaking and presentation skills. Experience as early childhood program director a plus.

  • Ability to become a CLASS reliable observer. Current knowledge of CLASS observation tool a plus .

  • Ability to travel as necessary, possibly overnight, to complete responsibilities following NSU Child and Family Network policies.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written .

  • Good organizational skills. Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Good computer skills in word-processing and database programs adequate to meet registration and reporting responsibilities.

  • Ability to work well with persons of all ages, races, sex, etc .

  • Knowledge of the region's child care community, needs, and services available to parents a plus .

  • Ability to work evenings and Saturdays and to assist with innovative and special projects .

Job Concepts

Conduct training and coaching in appropriate practices for early learning providers and administrators in Rapides Parish; coach providers on appropriate practices and assist with other services. Conduct CLASS assessments in early care and education programs.
