The Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center seeking dependable and trustworthy Mental Health Program Assistant to join our team of caring individuals who take pride in the work and care they provide patients. As a Mental Health Program Assistant you will provide direct patient care, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensure patient needs are met, and facilitating group programming.

Responsibilities include:

  • Attend and contribute in team meetings that will provide assistance in the development of goals and interventions while maintaining a person-centered approach.

  • Collaborate with the treatment team and unit staff to make recommendations, gather information, and implement interventions

  • Provide direct care to patients such as bathing, toileting, hygiene, andnutritional needs

Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center is a secure inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults with mental illness in a large, campus-based setting. The population also includes individuals civilly committed for specialized care, such as competency for criminal court (Rule 20), emergency 48-hour bed holds, and co-occurring mental illness/chemical dependency. Located just 15 minutes north of the Twin Cities metro, this modern facility offers compassionate, person-centered care in a pleasant environment appreciated by patients and employees alike.

*This posting will be used to fill multiple full-time positions and will include shifts that are rotating (day/evening) or evening.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must possess all of the following:

Knowledge of:

  • Behavior modification theory/techniques sufficient to implement behavior management components of treatment plans.

  • Mental illness sufficient to design and implement individual treatment plans, identify and control aggressive/ violent/ inappropriate behavior.

  • Therapeutic intervention techniques sufficient to control aggressive or violent behavior.

  • Laws, rules, regulations and policies governing treatment of mental illness and vulnerable adults sufficient to protect the rights of clients/residents.

Ability to:

  • Perform basic health care procedures, such as taking vital signs and administering medications.

  • Observe, interpret and document client behaviors sufficient to provide information needed for evaluation and treatment planning.

  • Read, write and speak English sufficient to interpret, implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for mentally ill.

  • Interact with clients sufficient to assist in the delivery of group therapy, teach specialized and vocational skills, and teach recreation and life skills.
