TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Workforce Development Specialist (Athens) in Athens, Texas

WHO WE ARE: The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), a Certified Best Place for Working Parents, is seeking a Workforce Development Specialist II to join Workforce Solutions East Texas - Athens office at 205 N. Murchison, Athens, Texas. You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Workforce Development Specialist II performs routine (journey-level) employment work. Work involves conducting interviews to assess client needs, disseminating information and facilitating access to workforce development programs, and providing employment counseling services. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: - Disseminate information regarding workforce development programs, as well as special and supportive services. - Assist clients with applications for employment, ensuring completeness, and with job searches, resume preparation and other related activities. - Assist employers in establishing accounts, using the job matching system and amending job posting information. - Interview clients to assess and record information regarding training needs, education, experience, skills, interests, and other relevant factors to determine clients' career development opportunities and eligibility of benefits. - Determine employers job requirements, matches clients to current job openings, and refers qualified clients. - Maintain case management records - Maintain or establish working relationships with employers to verify satisfactory placement of clients. - Administer employment assessments and test instruments. - Assist in developing marketing, instructional or training materials to distribute to internal and external clients. - May facilitate or assist in facilitating job readiness sessions and in conducting presentations to explain employment programs and services. - May assist in writing job postings at the request of employers. - Perform related work as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -Two years and six months of full-time qualifying experience in gathering information, interviewing or counseling; the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise; direct social work; eligibility determination; or in workforce development issues and programs and customer service. -Fifteen semester hours of accredited college work may be substituted for each six months of experience.
