Job Overview

The Mechanical and Plumbing Lead serves as lead mechanical technician providing a high level of technical support and expertise to the staff in the Mechanical Unit.The Lead provides daily oversight of team activities and provides direct guidance and follow-up of work requests, troubleshooting and escalated HVAC and plumbing related issues.Responsibilities include performing all scheduled and on-demand maintenance activity of all HVAC, plumbing, medical gas and steam related systems. The Lead ensures maximum effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability of all HVAC, plumbing and steam related equipment; orders repair and replacement parts and supplies; and contacts and coordinates vendor repairs and maintenance. Position's lead responsibilities include, but are not limited to, determining and setting priorities for team; completing work assignments; instructing and reviewing the work of team; resolving problems and conflicts; performing supervisory duties for two or more employees with final accountability/oversight remaining with the supervisor who is responsible for delegating the lead assignments.

Qualifications

EDUCATION - High School diploma or equivalent. Two years trade school certification. EXPERIENCE -Seven years HVAC and/or plumbing experience in a healthcare, commercial or industrial setting. Apprenticeship/related experience. EQUIVALENCY -One year trade school certification will substitute for apprenticeship/related experience. CERTIFICATION(S) - Plumber license or HVAC certificate

Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE No direct patient care ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. Completes assignments such as basic electrical, plumbing, steam, HVAC, medical gas, safety, nd other miscellaneous duties in the maintenance field. In the event of a critical equipment failure, diagnoses and initiates corrective action and resources necessary to initiate and complete immediate repair and return to service. Oversees emergency and scheduled mechanical building systems outages; plans, orders materials, schedules and coordinates work activities of contractors and other in-house staff. Keeps track of all equipment failures within the preventative maintenance program to review and analyze through fault code analysis trends and history on equipment and warranty compliance. Maintains safe and clean mechanical rooms, equipment and work areas. Observes, documents and ensures preventative maintenance for peak operational efficiency of all equipment and systems as assigned by supervisor or manager to minimize system failure and time off-line. Reads, reviews, corrects, comments and interprets sketches, diagrams, and blueprints.
