Overview

The Center Assistant assists with various activities including classroom maintenance, record keeping, and meal service. The incumbent functions under the Manager, Early Childhood Education as a PACT World of Care team member to provide support and assistance to the families attending the center-based program.

Responsibilities

1. Assist teachers in providing a warm, nurturing environment, models and encourages appropriate social interactions and assures individual developmentally-appropriate activities for each child.

2. Assist with hand washing, diapering, and toileting.

3. Assist in the distribution of snacks and meals to children and families.

4. Help in the preparation of instructional aids and materials for classroom activities.

5. Ensure that storage areas, the kitchen and classroom environments are properly supplied, clean, and safe.

6. Provide light clerical support (e.g., filing, data entry) as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

• Current enrollment in a high school education program required.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

One (1) year of previous child care experience preferred.
