Summary:

In alignment with the mission and vision of Northern Light Health, the Assistant Manager will strive for excellence in patient safety, clinical quality, and service. The Assistant Manager, under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, is responsible for the daily operations of a procedural department which provides general and advanced care to patients undergoing procedures in interventional cardiology and interventional radiology specialties. Operates single and dual plane imaging equipment as required. Sets up and runs procedural equipment, assists the operating physician in procedural support roles, and performs all other ancillary duties assigned to meet the patient care and operational needs of the department, as allowed by competence and licensure. Works closely with leadership in the management of operational needs such as supply chain, education, quality initiatives, and documentation systems.

Responsibilities:

  • ARRT and State of Maine licensure.

  • Earns and maintains BLS certification.

  • Earns Bachelor’s degree

  • Learns and maintains core skills in one modality (cardiac catherization, electrophysiology, interventional radiology/vascular/neuro, structural heart).

  • At least 5 years of experience as an Interventional Rad Tech

  • Flexibility with work hours and activities in response to unit needs.

  • Ability to learn basic computer skills, to identify own learning needs, to work independently, to recognize need for assistance and seek it in a timely manner, to prioritize work responsibilities and work efficiently in the face of a variety of ever-changing requests and demands on time.

  • Ability to build supportive relationships with co-workers and evaluate performance of staff members.

  • Ability to adapt to change and modify staff behaviors to meet all regulatory requirements, to adjust staffing to workflow and acuity needs of department, to follow-up or initiate disciplinary actions with goal of changing negative behaviors.

  • Capacity to concentrate, remain effective, and maintain positive interdisciplinary communication and collaboration in a busy and often stressful environment.

Other Information:

*Must be able to meet the physical demands of the unit: lift 10 lbs. with one hand to attach IV pumps to IV poles; push and pull heavy computers & equipment on wheels; push wheelchairs/stretchers with 300+ pound patients; lift 50 pounds without assistance; maintain a high volume of stooping, bending, lifting, pulling, reaching and twisting; stretch, reach, and retrieve equipment from carts and shelving and bend to reach equipment placed below knee level; possess upper body strength, agility and lung capacity necessary to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation; Ability to stand for long periods of time; ability to wear protective equipment and to pass respiratory protection fit testing; able to perform various sensory requirements such as visual and color acuity, speech, smell, touch, manual dexterity, fine motor skills and hearing in order to perform job duties accurately; able to physically operate various computer systems.
