This position is for a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, staff position.

Salary commensurate with credentials and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or Associate degree with two (2) years of computer network experience and telephone support

  • Three (3) years of work experience in computer network and telephone support.

  • One (1) or more basic industry certifications such as A+, MCSE, or Server+.

  • Expert knowledge of desktop hardware and VoIP systems.

  • Ability to install, configure, maintain, and trouble-shoot Windows operating systems and desktop applications at elevated heights.

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networks and ability to trouble-shoot connectivity issues.

  • Valid Driver’s License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.

  • Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, printers, peripherals and auxiliary equipment.

  • Ability to push and pull up to 50lbs, and ability to bend, climb, squat, and crawl in tight spaces. Ability to complete tasks at heights above 10 feet or more.

Job Concepts

This position coordinates and supervises the telephone and computer technical support operations of Computer Services and Institutional Research.

Examples of Work

  • Perform and supervise advanced computer systems work.

  • Project planning, definitions of internal procedures, and evaluating equipment and software requirements.

  • Plan, assign, schedule, and supervise technical support staff.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all aspects of technical support operations.

  • Work with the CITO in a wide latitude for use of initiative and independent judgment.

  • Respond to problems unresolved by subordinate staff.

  • Oversee the training of agency employees in the use of technology.

  • Analyze procedures for efficiency and effectiveness and recommend and/or implement changes to ensure the agencies standards or requirements are met.

  • Evaluates domain level security and assist with maintenance.

  • Provide recommendations for acquisition of technology and associated equipment.

  • Ensure all technical operations are carried out within the boundaries of all regulating authorities and agency policy while maintaining a high level of service.

  • Maintain, coordinate, and design all back-up/disaster recovery solutions.

  • Analyze operational issues for all levels of end user to recommend or provide working solutions.

  • Manage and monitor software and hardware and maintain their configurations.

  • Assist in developing, evaluating, and implementing new technologies and security related tools.

  • Oversee and coordinate workstation deployment and reallocation related tasks.

  • Provide advance level support for hardware and software as needed.

  • Recommend evaluation and implementation of new technology, hardware, or software.

  • Coordinate and provide support for all types of computer/system issues.

  • Evaluate security related procedures and recommends changes as necessary.
