The Staff Materials Engineer supports technology development and fabrication operations by providing technical engineering expertise in MOCVD growth of III-nitride films for bulk acoustic wave filters. New material and process development as well as optimization of existing processes are key aspects of the position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Maintain existing and developing new processes of material and device fabrication of bulk acoustic wave filters via metalorganic vapor deposition (MOCVD) of aluminum scandium nitride (AlScN) to achieve desired material properties and device functionality.

  • Work with device and product teams to integrate processes for successful device fabrication and ensure a match of process capability to product requirement.

  • Act as technical lead to manage programs that require process development (establish activities for overall process development, define schedule, routinely report results)

  • Maintain a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

  • Support research efforts for government programs and other research and development activities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • MS and/or Ph.D. in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Microelectronics Engineering, or a related field from a College or University accredited by the U.S. Dept of Education or other internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • 7+ years industrial, hands-on experience in the MEMS or semiconductor field, with prior experience with III-Nitride deposition and manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.

  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing utilizing design of experiments (DOE), statistical process control (SPC), and methodical data analysis for process performance improvement and structured (root-cause) troubleshooting is essential.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of statistical analysis programs for gathering and analyzing process data related to performance specifications.

  • A highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and a strong team player with good communication skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, thriving on technical challenges within and outside of core area of expertise, and to interact effectively across multi-functional teams.
