Indian Health Service Physician (Family Practice) in Clinton, Oklahoma

Summary This is an open until filled position. This position will serve as the Physician (Family Practice) at the Clinton Indian Health Center in Clinton, OK. The incumbent will provide continuous patient care to a brand range in patient age groups. The position is under the direct supervision of the Clinical Director of the Clinton Service Unit. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. At least a one (1) year service agreement will be required. Responsibilities Provides direct medical services including diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic services within specialty, training, education and experience. Patients served cover all age groups - pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Ensures appropriate medical records are maintained and updated. Communicates effectively with patients and families with multiple health problems and of different backgrounds. Alternate work schedule, call backs, rotating shift s, rotating departments, nights/weekends/holidays may apply. Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities. Graduate Training Waiting Period: The hiring manager/selecting official may elect to utilize an available flexibility wherein applicants who are expected to complete graduate training (internship, residency, or fellowship program) within 9 months of applying, may be deemed tentatively qualified. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. Your degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. AND Physician License: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. AND Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below. An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., family medicine, internal medicine, or pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Association (AMA) or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. This is part of the minimum requirements to qualify for the position. Board Certified in the Specialty to which the applicant is applying. OR Active Registrant of the Board in the Specialty to which the applicant is applying. GS-14: Applicants must have at least four (4) years of equivalent experience in the specialty of the position to be filled. OR Completion of four (4) years of graduate training (internship, residency or fellowship program) in the specialty of the position to be filled; OR A combination of experience and equivalent graduate training (internship, residency, or fellowship program) in the specialty of the position to be filled that when combined total at least four (4) years. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
