Key Details:

Compensation: $17.75 - $21.00/hour, DOE Start Date: ASAP End Date: 9/30/2024 Location: Craig, CO, Rock Springs, WY, Rawlins, WY Additional Details: A vehicle will be provided for work completion or mileage reimbursed for personal vehicle use. GPS unit, compass, cell phone, and range finder (if necessary) will be provided by WEST, however technician must be equipped with and provide own suitable footwear (rugged hiking boots, etc.), field appropriate clothing, and binoculars.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring greater sage-grouse using VHF telemetry. Opportunities to assist with other survey types going at the project site. Overnight travel will be required. The job will consist of 8-10 hour days, varying from 20-40 hours per week. Opportunities to supplement hours by assisting with other surveys being conducted in the area.

Requirements:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in natural resources, wildlife management, wildlife biology or equivalent Prior experience with VHF telemetry is required Experience with and ability to operate a 4x4 vehicle Experience safely driving an ATV in rugged terrain is preferred Skilled use of topographic maps, GPS units and other field equipment is required Self- starter who can work independently, sometimes in remote locations and in extreme weather conditions Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with site management and WEST supervisors High level of initiative and ability to think critically to solve challenging problems. Ability to appear for work on time, follow instructions from managers; interact effectively with coworkers and clients; maintain a positive attitude; accept guidance and constructive criticism Candidates may encounter snakes, insects, and other potentially hazardous wildlife.

Physical Requirements:

Applicants must be in good physical condition, as work will be conducted in locations where temperatures and conditions can be extreme. Ability to walk long distances (10+ miles)

After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check that meets WEST's minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid driver's license will be required. Candidates must adhere to all health and safety requirements.
