UES a BlueHalo Company Product Application Engineer for Biomanufacturing Prototypes in DAYTON, Ohio

OVERVIEW

UES, a BlueHalo Company, has a position available for a full-time Engineer to join newly developed biotechnology research group in the Biological and Nanoscale Department. The successful candidate will be a proto-typing engineer who will develop applications for newly emerging biomanufacturing molecules.  The initial biomolecule will be used for a variety of application including crack filling, platform development, containment, reinforcement etc. This position will require utilizing design of experiment (DOE) to understand to technology generated, match the known specification to the correct application and then utilize your engineering skills to identify application technologies and then create SOPs to ensure consistency and testing. The successful candidate will be an integral member of multi-disciplinary team that will include professional growth in a variety of areas.  Excellent communication and a willingness to collaborate are imperative.  This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to be at the foundation of a growing team in the rapidly growing biomanufacturing field.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Identify application, specification for each application and methods to apply biomineralization
  • Quickly design and conduct appropriate experiments to determine the appropriate application for the biomass.
  • Conduct appropriate testing method for application analysis using industrial standards where appropriate
  • Write through SOPs to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Stage and operate, testing equipment and instrumentation
  • Testing using chemical and mechanical laboratory tools
  • Record organized notes and document all information
  • Communicate results clearly and thoroughly in regular formal and informal presentations
  • Contribute ideas to discussions among a team of scientists working on biotechnology projects
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BRING
  • This position involves working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Development, Biological Engineering, Biotechnology, Biomechanical engineering, or a related field is required, master's degree preferred
  • 5 -10 years of experience developing prototypes, conducting DoE and developing test matrixes.
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with productivity software suites (Microsoft Office, Google Suite) used for email, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, cloud file sharing, and virtual meetings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to collaborate and work with other scientists and engineers

Beneficial skills and experience:

  • Experience with bioreactors/fermenters and downstream processing equipment
  • Previous research experience and/or product development experience
  • Experience servicing equipment and/or instruments
