Ford Motor Company Tire & Wheel Manufacturing Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

As a Tire and Wheel Engineer, you will be responsible for final assembly’s Tire and Wheel build strategies. Must understand the fundamentals of a tire room and all the tooling involved with building a wheel assembly. They will be responsible for providing content to study leads for funding approvals and working with layout engineers to integrate tire rooms and tooling into cycle line layouts.

What you'll do :

  • Design and develop tire and wheel strategies for final assembly- both insourcing and outsourcing depending on program

  • Work with product development to ensure standard manufacturing process is being followed.

  • Facilitate design review sessions and lead PFMEA activities

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations for tire and wheel strategies

  • Design autocad layouts for tire rooms

  • Provide content to study leads for funding approvals

  • Deliver scopes of work to tooling suppliers while meeting date to green targets

  • Issue purchase orders for tooling suppliers

  • Support quality driven tire and wheel trials

  • Support tooling design and build with supplier interface team

  • Support launch and installation activities for tire rooms

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.

  • Travel required (25 up to 75%)

  • Travel includes suppliers visits and North America final assembly plants

  • Proven experience in manufacturing engineering and including autocad and layout design

  • Proficiency in autocad

  • Experience with tire rooms and tire & wheel build up

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work well with cross functional teams to develop consensus

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Tooling knowledge, debug and troubleshooting experience

  • Ability to program PLCs (Siemens and Allen-Brandley)

  • Experience working with Tier 1 OEM suppliers and partners

  • Manufacturing operations experience in general/final assembly
