Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Create and sustain the External Hazards delivery programme as part of the overall delivery strategy.• Create and manage External Hazards submissions for the Environment, Safety, Security, and Safeguards (E3S) Case and GDA.• Assist engineering disciplines in making informed decisions by using External Hazards to compare design options.• Ensure quality and governance standards are met for External Hazards submissions.• Represent the project at internal technical and project reviews, as well as external meetings with regulators and stakeholders.• In-depth understanding of the various types of external hazards that could affect the safe operation of a complex facility, such as an operational nuclear power plant, as well as the derivation of withstand requirements.• Experience with the UK civil nuclear regulatory regime, specifically the UK regulator's GDA process.• Experience considering external hazards as part of the design of a nuclear power plant.• Ability to represent the project both internally and externally requires strong communication and interpersonal skills.• A demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with staff of all levels under tight deadlines.

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

  • • Qualified to a degree level or equivalent in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent, or with significant relevant industry experience.
