EXAMINATION FOR COURT REFERRAL SPECIALIST STARTING SALARY: $25.39 - $26.61/hour. DATE OF EXAMINATION: JUNE 15,2024 APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED UP TO: APRIL 26, 2024

RESIDENCY: Candidates must have been legal residents of Washington or Saratoga County for at least one month immediately preceding the date of the written test.

DUTIES: This position exists in the Washington County Alternative Sentencing Agency and involves being assigned to one of the "community corrections" programs which are offered by the Alternative Sentencing Agency as sentencing options for the Family Court and Criminal courts in Washington County.
* The incumbent analyzes risk factors contributing to an individual's offense or behavior, and develops a case plan to address identified risks.
* The incumbent works in collaboration with colleagues in the Alternative Sentencing Agency as well as the Department of Social Services, Probation Department, educational system and others to ensure comprehensive services.
* Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of the Alternative Sentencing Agency with wide leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out the details of the work.
* Supervision may be exercised over volunteer staff. * Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of the written test: * Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four-year college or university with a Bachelor Degree in human services or criminal justice or related field; or * Graduation from a regionally accredited New York State registered two-year college with an Associate Degree and two years human service/criminal justice experience; or * Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and 4 years of experience as described in (b) above.

SUBJECTS OF EXAMINATION: A test designed to evaluate knowledge, skills and /or abilities in the following areas: Preparing written material, Evaluating conclusions in light of known facts, and Applying written information. Test Guide is available at https://www.cs.ny.gov/testing/testguides.cfm.
