PROJECT ENGINEER - APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED UP TO: APRIL 26, 2024. SALARY RANGE: $31.25/ hour.

RESIDENCY: Candidates must have been legal residents of Washington, Saratoga or Warren County for at least one month immediately preceding the date of the written test.

DUTIES:
* This position exists in the Information Technology Department and involves responsibility for administering and participating in the operation and maintenance of computer networks. * The work involves analyzing hardware and software network problems, researching new products and management of the Help Desk. * The incumbent may be assigned to work with Local Area Networks or Wide Area Networks. * Work is performed under the general direction of the Chief Information Officer with wide leeway allowed for planning and carrying out the details of the work. * Supervision may be exercised over subordinate technical staff. * Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of the written test:
(A) Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, computer technology, data processing, management information systems, information resource management, or related field and one (1) year of experience involving the installation of micro-computer hardware and software and configuration and administration of local and wide area networks; OR

(B) Possession of an associate degree in computer science, computer technology, data processing, management information systems, information resource management, or related field and three (3) years of the experience as defined in (A) above; OR

(C) Completion of an industry certified network training program and three (3) years of the experience as defined in (A) above; OR

(D) Five (5) years of full-time experience or its part-time equivalent as defined in (A) above.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid New York State Drivers License or otherwise demonstrate ability to meet transportation needs to perform field work responsibilities in the ordinary course of business.

SUBJECT OF EXAMINATION: The examination will consist of two parts: a rated evaluation of training and experience and a qualifying pc-administered test. You must pass the evaluation of training and experience in order to take the qualifying pc-administered test. You must pass both tests in order to be considered for appointment. Only your rating on the evaluation of training and experience will be considered when computing final scores.
