Akebono Brake Corporation Quality Engineer in Glasgow, Kentucky

Purpose/Summary

            Support quality improvement and technical areas in manufacturing production.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Participate in Quality Improvement Activities involving appropriate resources

  • Supports manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, R&D, purchasing, and other related resources in quality improvement

  • Supports the development of planned activities to improve quality. (Develop action plan, assign responsibility and target dates with the team)

  • Research all sources that have experience with Technology, Product, Process, &, etc. that can aid in quality improvement or process development

  • Assists Quality Improvement Project Activity. (Document and track results of actions.)

  • Assists problem-solving and verification of countermeasures with team

  • Leads internal/external meetings related to Quality improvement projects

  • Provides guidance, technical support, and analysis for improvement projects and processes

  • Supports team in all aspects of quality improvement projects and processes

  • Supports the team in all aspects of quality improvement and VA/VE

  • Report quality system results and metrics

  • Support problem-solving via phone as necessary

  • IATF Internal Auditor

    Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)

  • 4-year college degree in engineering or technical field, preferred. 

  • Minimum of 4 years in the Quality Field. Quality/statistical/problem-solving training classes/seminars, Six Sigma, Shanin’s techniques, preferred.

  • Familiarity with Automotive customer’s quality requirements and industry standards is preferred.

  • Materials, Brake product knowledge/experience, preferred.

    Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Communication (written/verbal) skills

  • Use of office-related software for office use

  • Blueprint reading, GD&T, basic understanding of metrology

  • Experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry and PPAP, APQP, Control Plans, FMEA, MSA, GR&R, SPC, and Manufacturing Process Experience.

  • Organizational skills

                This position requires the following physical abilities: to sit, to use hands (to finger, handle, or feel), to reach with hands and arms, to stand, to talk, to hear, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  In addition, the specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment is mostly sedentary; however, there is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
