POSITION CONCEPT: To implement all placement activities for all applicants for Competitive Edge as assigned. The Employment Couselor will have direct responsibility and input into the placement program.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:The Employment Counselor will:1. Actively cooperate with the President/CEO and other staff members in a joint endeavor in satisfactorily achieving the goals of CWI and Competitive Edge.2. Responsible for all intakes and orientation of new applicants which will include all paperwork, assessment and screening of applicants to determine availability, needs, abilities, accommodations and strengths and needs.3. The Employment Counselor will assist the consumer in completing and following the Individualized Career Plan.4. Assist the consumer in obtaining the funding required or in setting up a fee agreement.5. Meet the goals set for job developing and scheduling assessments through employer contacts for consumers with an emphasis on meeting grant requirements.6. Make direct placements, full or part time, supported and non-supported as directed by each consumer’s career plan, and funding source.7. Serve as liaison between potential employers in business and industry, funding sources and the consumer.8. Provide on the job training as needed to consumers.9. Provide job coaching as assigned, including but not limited to transportation of individuals to job sites.10. Be responsible for reports as related to placement activities with the cooperation of staff members as follows: 1) case record documentation, 2) staff journals, monthly client service reports, 3) monthly statistics, 4) active registered intake status, 5) placement report follow-up and monthly placement reports, 6) monthly progress reports, reporting to VESID and other funding sources, and 7) thirty day review and letters.11. Develop and implement career readiness training to consumers including resume development, vocational counseling, employment seeking skills and development, mock interviews and career and interest testing.12. Refer consumers to agencies that can assist with their additional needs such as Social Services, Case Management, etc.13. Work with a caseload of consumers on the follow-along program, developing and monitoring goals, and working with employers to sustain a successful placement.14. Provide on-call duties as assigned by the Director of Employment Programs.15. Take part in any in-service training as offered by the agency and attend meetings as requested.16. Act in any other capacity as directed by the President/CEO.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Human Services or related field. Demonstrated expertise working in career/vocational counseling role, with experience in job development preferred. Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to sell a product or service. Must have valid NYS driver’s license acceptable to Agency insurance standards.

Minimum Salary: 20.24 Maximum Salary: 22.28 Salary Unit: Hourly
