Job Summary

The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a temporary, part-time, 16-week position to support activities by the School of Media and Communication. The successful candidate will have a background in journalism or media production and be able to pass a background check.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the director and/or his designee in the Roy Howard Community Journalism Center.

  • Be available for a variety of different tasks and occasional out-of-town travel.

  • Communicate regularly with supervisors and others.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED. Demonstrated campus media experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of mass communication principles and ethics.

  • Working with high school students in a productive, supportive manner.

  • The ability to work with diverse groups/populations

Preferred Qualifications

College degree. Experience working in campus media or similar outlet.
