Queen's Health System Manager, Clinical Operations - Telemetry Float Pool (Full Time, 40, Varied Shifts) in Honolulu, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clinical Operations Manager is responsible for daily operations of the nursing unit, and supervision and support of personnel and patients. Includes administrative duties and may include hands-on clinical duties and responsibilities. Assists in setting the standard of care in the department, consistent with the mission, vision and philosophy of the organization.

• Participates in the administrative and operational management and long-range planning of unit(s) and area(s) assigned as required.

• Serves as the manager in the absence of the department manager.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Standing, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.

• Frequent: static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.

• Occasional: stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of one pound up to five pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

• Subjected to noise/vibrations from intercoms, telephones and monitors.

• Exposure to body fluids and communicable diseases.

• Frequently works on multiple tasks and priorities at one time.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Current Hawaii State license as Registered Nurse.

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

• Master’s degree preferred.

• Depending upon area of assignment, specialty certification/training may be required.

• Current BLS certification.

B. EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum three (3) years progressive experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility.

• One (1) year supervisory/leadership experience.

SCOPE OF SERVICE

The Med/Surg/Tele Float Pool is a unit that supplies replacement staff to the inpatient units. The primary purpose of the Float pool is to cover unexpected absences from the units. Due to the nature of the Float Pool, staff will be caring for adult patients across the acute care spectrum. On occasion, Float Pool staff are expected to assist with caring for patients holding in ER, ICU or PACU awaiting admission to Med/Surg or Telemetry beds.

The Med/Surg RN but is not limited to: Cardio-vascular patients, respiratory diseases, orthopedic, oncology, gastrointestinal, urological, wound and skin disorders with medical and surgical interventions.Specialty areas that we serve include trauma, stroke, transplant and post-partum mothers.

The Telemetry RN patients are predominately patients with chronic heart disease. Primary diagnoses are: CHF, syncope, Afib/ Aflutter, bradycardia.

Staffing ratios vary according to work area.
