Job Summary :

The Systems Engineering (SE) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within Raytheon, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).

The Land Warfare and Missile Defense Systems (LWMDS) department is looking for a National Team Responsible Senior Systems Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama. LWMDS supports all aspects of Systems Engineering that facilitate the development of complex systems to support the Raytheon Land and Air Defense Systems (LADS) mission area. The LWMDS department supports Raytheon by cultivating a world-class group of systems thinkers who work together as a team to architect technical approaches to some of the world’s toughest problems. Key technical domains include Radar Systems and Sensor Netting, Effector Systems, C2 Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC), Command and Control, Communications, Network Design, Battlespace Integration, and Interoperability for Domestic and International customers.

This will be an on-site role in Huntsville, Alabama.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • You will lead engineering activities on the National Team-Engineering (NT-E) program’s System Concepts & Requirements (SC&R) Product Team.

  • You will lead architecture and requirements development activities that define, characterize, and develop and document MDS capabilities in the form of architectural framework updates, system-of-system functional and performance requirements, change notices, interface control documents, technical papers and briefings, performance models, and complex requirements traceability efforts.

  • You will lead a small systems engineering teams ranging from 3-8 engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree and five (5) years or more of documented work and/or academic experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • C2BMC

  • Sensor Simulation Development

  • Directed Sensor Tasking

  • Multi- phenomenology processing

  • Kill Vehicles

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in EE, CE, Physics, Math, ME, Aerospace

  • Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems.

  • Experience in one or more of the following System Concepts & Requirements areas: system architecture, requirements development and traceability, MBSE development, performance requirements development through modeling and simulation, specialty engineering requirements development, DOORS, CAMEO.

  • Systems Engineering experience in one or more elements of the Ballistic missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control, C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), Kill Vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.).

  • Demonstrated experience creating and/or analyzing M&S for M&S for integrated missile defense systems including subsystems such as EO/IR sensors, RF/Radar sensors, Kill Vehicles, missiles/interceptors, threats & countermeasures, target discrimination, or command and control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.).

  • Demonstrated experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.).

  • Experience with ballistic missile, advanced threats such as aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, or countermeasures, or discriminator in selection.

  • Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), Fire Control, C2BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), Kill Vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.).

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
