Vontier Manufacturing Engineer in Janesville, Wisconsin

The Manufacturing Engineer Is responsible for owning, evaluating, and optimizing current processes to drive production efficiencies through lean tools. You will evaluate and implement new processes for new product introduction. Is responsible to capital recommendations and implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.

  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

  • Interacts with Engineering concerning product design, manufacturing processes, and equipment to ensure efficient production methods.

  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

  • Pursue assigned Continuous Improvement projects; define charter, develop, plan, and implement, reporting on progress regularly.

  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished- product and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.

  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

  • Actively supports all lean manufacturing implementation efforts.

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in a related field: Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering; or 5 years related experience.

  • Experienced in Lean manufacturing and implementation, Continuous Improvement, Communications with all levels, Team leadership, CAD, Knowledge of tooling, fixtures, welding, assembly and other manufacturing processes, Knowledgeable in industrial engineering principles (time-motion, labor efficiency), Product development, Value Stream mapping, Leading kaizens, standardized work, single piece flow, lead-time reduction, driving productivity improvements.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software, 3D (ProE) CAD Design software, Ariel configuration software, development software, Internet software, inventory software, Order Processing systems, Project Management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and Spreadsheet software.

  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in the compressor design field. Relies on experience and judgment to perform the functions of the job. Performs a variety of tasks, including Project Engineer.

  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

  • Works under general supervision.
