As the Program Supervisor of our Year Round Youth Development Programs you will lead and develop our before and after school during the school year and day camp staff in the summer. This position will serve on an engaging and dynamic team, playing a key role in ensuring planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum are provided to the participants. You will oversee the planning and implementation of a safe and quality child care program providing day-to-day support and overall management of the program site. You will supervise and evaluate the staff and volunteers, including hiring and training, maintaining required staff/child ratios and conducting regular staff meetings. You will be an important part of helping maintain professional relationships with families, facility/school personnel, and the community.

Job Site Options :

*This is a Full-Time Onsite Position.

Monday – Friday 6:45am – start of school

Monday – Friday end of school – 6:00pm

Administrative hours are provided and AM shifts are variable due to program need. The position is based out of one location, but you will be asked to support and/or substitute at nearby sites when needed. Hours and shifts are determined by the school schedules, supervisors will be expected to work 35-40 hours in a combination of admin and in ratio hours.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing

  1. Overall planning of programming to align with the AfterSchool theory of change “Principles and the Youth Program Quality Initiative/Assessment,” with a focus on best/promising practices, emerging research, needs and strengths of the communities and founder outcomes.

  • Curriculum design and oversight of after school programming at Valli Kee and Cascade.

  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.

  • Training and supervision of staff to build strong role model relationsips with youth and families.
    5.
  • Support of lead instructors to address conflict resolution and behavioral issues with and between youth, with a focus on positive discipline, consistent consequences, restorative justice and the values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and passion for excellence.

  • Ensure seamless operation and continuity of the director’s responsibilities in their absence.
    7.
  • Leading collaboration and teamwork to support achievement of program outcomes and goals.
    8.
  • Supervision and managment of afternoon programming during the summer.
    9.
  • Completion of site based quarterly program evaluation plan and ongoing data collection.
    10.
  • Coordination of special guests, presenters, field trips and workshops that meet the needs of participants.
    11.
  • Successful communication with supervisor, co-workers, volunteers, participants, other service providers, and community residents.
    12.
  • Oversight of monthly site reports and maintain daily site attendance, incident and accident forms, and other pertinent reports/records.
    13.
  • Attend annual Bridge Conference as well as other BSK/KCHA meetings.
    14.
  • Attend team meetings and other YMCA trainings as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Qualifications

What we're looking for in an applicant

  1. Three years or more of experience working with children, camps, childcare, tutoring or nannying.

  2. One year or more of supervisory experience.

  3. High school graduate or equivalent.

  4. Have completed 30 credits of 100-level or above college-level coursework.

  5. 21 years of age or older.

  6. Ability to model and demonstrate Y values; caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.

  7. Experience planning and implementing group activities.

Preferred Education/Experience

  1. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).

  2. Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

  3. 45 credits of 100-level or above college-level course work

  4. Previous experience in school age care programs and summer day camps.
