ASM Global Banquet Server in Knoxville, Tennessee

ASM Global has excellent and immediate openings for part-time Banquet Servers with ASM Global Knoxville at the Knoxville Convention Center. The Banquet Servers report to the Banquet Supervisor and Food and Beverage Manager and are responsible for all banquet functions which includes: set-up, any beverage break, buffet, plated and reception events, etc. Position will also to be eligible to work additional shifts in concessions and bartending (if you maintain a current TABC license).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with preparation and set-up of event room including, but not limited to, the collection of all banquet equipment to include flatware, china, glassware, and serving pieces needed for each event.

  • Prepares garnishes, beverages, condiments, and bread baskets.

  • Clean and fill salt and pepper containers, sugar dishes, creamers

  • Prepare tables with place settings as instructed.

  • Fulfilling the service per each Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and/or any standards and instructions set by management, the Client, or Banquet Captain

  • Breakdown banquet equipment and set-up after each event and then clean and return serving pieces to proper storage area.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, customers, guests, and co-workers.

  • Compliant with all health and safety codes

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Prior experience in the food and beverage service industry preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.

  • Must have good hygiene and a neat, conservative appearance.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision

  • Exemplary food and beverage service skills in a fine dining atmosphere.

  • A strong commitment to exemplary customer service.

  • Ability to read, understand, and implement ASM Standards of Service, Banquet Event Orders, and other policies and procedures.

  • Must have ability to take/follow directions and remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Must hold or obtain upon hiring a TABC card (when bartending)

    Must meet company standards on a criminal background screening

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.

  • Regular lifting and carrying minimum of 20 lbs.

  • Constant standing, walking, stooping, reaching, and handling food and chemical products.

  • Ability to work extended hours productively in a fast-paced, very physically demanding environment.

  • Ability to navigate in and out of banquet doors and service pockets throughout shift.

  • Potential exposure to dust pollen and fumes, and food allergens, and extreme changes in heat and cold

  • Subject to high noise level

  • Possible exposure to weather conditions
