Title: Sterile Processing and OR Resource Coordinator

Location: Lancaster General Hospital; Lancaster, PA

FTE: 1.0

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sterile Processing and OR Resource Coordinator is responsible for the management, procurement, maintenance, and tracking of surgical and procedural instrumentation across the hospital. This role ensures the availability of necessary instruments for clinical procedures, coordinates instrument repair and acquisition, and maintains inventory systems. The coordinator works closely with clinical leaders, OR staff, and vendors to ensure instrumentation needs are met efficiently and effectively, supporting the hospital’s surgical operations and patient care standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Coordinates the repair, maintenance, and procurement of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring timely availability for procedures. This role manages new instrument acquisition and the instrument repair process for the hospital.

  • Manages all surgical services supply lines; in-house, offline, patient specific and consignment. Monitors and maintains periodic automatic replenishment (PAR) levels and ensure supplies are adequate for case volume. Monitors supplies for obsolescence due to expiration, technology advances and surgeon preference changes.

  • Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as needed.

  • Generates trend reports of instrument refurbishment, repair, and replacement costs month to month in consultation with Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Manager.

  • Collaborates with clinical teams, SPD technicians, and vendors to optimize instrument set availability, maintenance, and compliance with health and safety standards. Works closely with Specialty Coordinators, Sterile Processing staff, Procurement, and other clinical stakeholders to facilitate the timely and accurate ordering of instrumentation.

  • Maintains daily out-for-repair notices to the OR coordinators and clinical leadership teams.

  • Maintains inventory record and report of all floor/unit instruments/trays.

  • Utilizes data and analytics to assure the development of a realistic volume adjusted par level for surgical instrumentation in conjunction with clinical leaders.

  • Collaboratively manages surgeon preference cards with clinical leaders. Ensures cards are updated and reflect current practice.

  • Participates in the value analysis process by conducting trials, collecting feedback, and assisting business manager with physician engagement.

  • Prepare informational, statistical or analytical reports as assigned.

  • Facilitation, Collaboration, Negotiation, Communication and Follow-Up.

  • Attends and participates at departmental meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma/GED

  • Strong financial management and analytical experience

  • Project Management - cross-function and to make presentations with poise and control.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bullet any qualifications that may be preferred but not required (i.e. education, experience, certifications).

  • Associate Degree Information Technology Management.

  • Bachelors degree in business or a related field.
