First Student Mobile Installation Mechanic in Lansdale, Pennsylvania

Experience

This position will perform routine maintenance and repair work on vehicles (buses, vans etc.) which adheres to FirstGroup standards. This may include but is not limited to tire maintenance, fulfilling service calls for repair, conducting visual inspections of vehicles and related work as assigned. Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. All work is performed with a commitment to safety

About the Installation Technician Position

The Vehicle Component Installation Technician will part of a DriverHub Team. The team travels across the US to install hardware on school busses and vans supporting various business and monitoring processes including GPS Units, Child Checkmate Units, Cameras and DriverHub brackets. Anticipated travel schedule will be 3 out of 4 weeks per month (Monday-Friday).

  • Review and ensure the proper project and materials are received and installed
  • Maintain daily work schedule as outlined
  • Communicate regularly with team lead on progress and any problems encountered
  • Maintain and review all installation status documentation; document issues of concern regarding individual buses
  • Remove and reinstall vehicle interiors (access panels, etc.) to ensure all mounting components are properly installed and vehicle interior is left in the original condition.
  • Maintain expense reporting and follow company policy regarding use of travel credit card and receipt documentation
  • Assist home shop location with light duty shop help and other tasks, as assigned

     

Installation Technician Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic electrical skills
  • Ability to travel 75% of the time (three consecutive weeks, Monday through Friday) for the duration of the DriverHub project
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Knowledge and interest in vehicles and proper maintenance, repair, and installation practices
  • Willing to learn and assist with auto/diesel vehicle maintenance tasks
  • Graduate from technical school program preferred but not required
