Job Title: Assistant Principal Lebanon Middle School

Department: Administration

Reports to: Building Principal

Classification: Certified/Exempt

Summary

To relieve the principal of such impediments as prevent him/her from fulfilling his/her chief

responsibility of promoting the educational well being of each student in the school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   1. Cooperates in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
  2. Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deals with special cases as necessary.
  3. Serves with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives
  4. Performs such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct.
  5. Assists principal in the evaluation of faculty/staff
  6. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign.

Supervisory Duties

  1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
  2. Serves as principal in the absence of the regular principal.
  3. Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, works with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up actions, maintains parent contact log in SISK12.
  4. Assumes responsibility of discipline and supervision for transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Masters or higher in Education Administration
  • Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • MissouriCertification
  • Such Alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Skills and Abilities

The individual must be organized, honest, educationally grounded, and have excellent leadership skills.

Language

This individual must be able to present information to staff members, other administrators, and school board. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with students and staff, both verbally and in writing.

Computation

Ability to compute ratios, percentages, and create and interpret graphs and figures.

Reasoning

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Technology

Basic computer word processing, spreadsheet, and research skills. Ability to access and create reports using the districts student information software.

Additional Skills and Abilities

Good communication skills are essential.

Must be able to keep information confidential when required by law, policy, or a particular situation.

Physical Demands

Mobility

Must frequently move in and around building and grounds to visit classrooms, attend meetings, and supervise bus loading and unloading. Also, requires the ability to sit for an hour or more at a time.

Hearing

Must be able to hear conversation in a noisy environment.

Speaking

Speaking frequently with all staff, students, parents, and district administrators.

Seeing

Ability to see close work such as typed or handwritten material. Frequent computer use required

Attendance

Attenda ce is an essential function of the job. The individual may occasionally be asked to work irregular or extended hours. This position will require occasional travel among district buildings and the community.

The work environment is consistent with a typical school environment. However the individual will occasionally be required to be outside in temperatures below freezing and above 100 degrees.

Terms of Employment

11 months. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board

Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
