Position Summary Join the STERIS Infection Prevention Technology business having responsibility for managing the sustaining engineering department to deliver reliable, timely, cost-effective, high performance, scalable product solutions within the sterilizer portfolio. You will drive processes, technology roadmaps, and provide strategic direction this engineering team. This is a well-rounded leadership role with responsibility for managing a team of engineers, process development, functional competency development, and overall execution control of all sustaining engineering activities. You will work closely with quality and adhere to systems and controls to ensure compliance. This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with cross functional teams to prioritize, track and execute sustaining engineering projects. *This position is located onsite in Mentor, Ohio with the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule. Duties * Leading projects that involve feature additions, design improvements, cost reductions, regulatory updates & new country approvals, language translations, risk management support, resolving quality, safety & manufacturing issues, customer support (remote & onsite), obsolete component replacement & qualifications, support ISO & Quality Audits * Drives culture of High-Performance teams in the department through strategic initiatives (functional competencies, performance management, talent management, process improvements). * Guides program interfaces in the sustaining team to prepare plans, estimates for new projects and other related activities. Delivers critical, timely communications to the program leadership on product updates and delivery. Identifies critical dependencies, risks and contingency plans. Proactively monitors progress, anticipating the effect of dependencies on schedule, cost, etc. * Identifies and implements continuous improvements for the sustaining department on multiple axes (Products, Technologies, Processes, Tools, Methods, and Functional Competencies). Assess and develop associate training and education plans. * Demonstrates a commitment to product quality & safety by maintaining compliance with all Quality Systems requirements. Fully adhere to all applicable FDA regulations, international guidelines and company policies at all times. Establish and promote a work environment among co-workers and direct reports that supports compliance with the Quality System and company policy. * Responsible for managing the team budget, and operating plans. * Manages interactions with vendors, suppliers, and consultants to assure engineering programs comply with designs and specifications. Supports established relationships with key third party engineering service firms, and professional organizations to promote inorganic development. *Approximately 10% domestic and international travel. Required Experience * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical) * 9+ years experience in a Regulated Engineering Environment * Minimum 7 Years Electro-Mechanical Capital Equipment Experience (Defense, Aerospace, Medical Devices, Aviation, Appliances) * At least three years of experience managing engineers. * Experience in functional management of an engineering group who are engaged in product development on projects from initial concept, through development and verification / validation testing, and into Manufact
