  • Paid Time Off & Holidays Occupational Therapist Schedule:

  • 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday Objective: To provide ongoing therapy to residents in a timely manner per physician's orders. Communicate progress within the facility of resident progress. The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients, communicates with families, physicians and other health team members and maintains appropriate documentation of services including MDS responsibilities complying with State and Federal regulations. Participates in on-going facility meetings and conducts in-service and training for facility staff on ongoing basis in restorative and maintenance techniques. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   1. Graduate from an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association, or is eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association under its requirements.
  2. A minimum of one year experience as an Occupational Therapist in a long-term care facility.
  3. Ability to understand medical terminology and how it applies to Occupational Therapy in order to communicate effectively with residents, staff and physicians, and to prepare meaningful reports.
  4. Coordination and dexterity necessary to manipulate tools and materials while instructing residents.
  5. Adequate strength and endurance to meet physical demands involved in using equipment, tools and materials while instructing residents.
  6. Must be licensed or registered in state as an Occupational Therapist.
  7. Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.   8. Evaluates residents and provides Occupational Therapy upon the written order of the resident's attending physician.
  9. Manages and supervises the Occupational Therapy assistants and/or rehabilitation aides in direct resident/patient care and resident/patient-related activities.
  10. Plans, implements, coordinates and evaluates the Occupational Therapy offered by the department (i.e.: assist with scheduling, transportation, filing, and mailing).
  11. Provides Occupational Therapy to the residents upon written order of the resident's attending physician and specifically: a. Evaluates each resident and initiates any ordered treatment(s). b. Communicates a report on the resident's progress to the attending physician. c. Consults with the physician regarding residents' change of condition as indicated during the course of the treatment. d. Re-evaluates the resident in conjunction with the attending physician.
  12. Supervises the delivery of Occupational Therapy Services on a regul r basis to ensure an acceptable level of performance from Occupational Assistants.
  13. Prepares and maintains treatment records with progress notes and observations, including: a. Physician's orders. b. Objectives of treatments. c. Plan of care. d. Treatment. Procedures(s) and baseline clinical data. e. Evaluation of progress and resident's response to treatment. f. Other pertinent information as required by the facility's policies.
  14. Participates in resident care planning conferences when needed to coordinate the care of the residents.
  15. Communicate with Director of Rehabilitation and other health team members regarding resident/patient progress, problems and plans.
