ITC Holdings Regulatory Analyst (All Levels) in Novi, Michigan

JOB SUMMARY

The Regulatory Analyst provides business analysis support on various regulatory topics, including transmission policy development, tariffs, ratemaking and regulatory compliance. The Regulatory Analyst researches, analyzes, interprets and distributes information on regulatory matters and supports company advocacy efforts and business plan objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides regulatory business analysis support by interfacing with all levels of management to summarize, discuss and clarify regulatory issues.

  • Researches, analyzes, interprets and reports data on regulatory matters to meet management requests for regulatory-related information on a timely basis.

  • Performs financial and statistical analyses to evaluate the implications of regulatory issues on the Company.

  • Participates in regulatory proceedings by developing, reviewing and managing regulatory filings, sponsoring and/or drafting testimony and processing discovery questions.

  • Supports Company advocacy efforts on transmission policy initiatives by monitoring Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) open meetings and working with Company personnel on regulatory initiatives to identify potential impact on Company; helps to develop appropriate responses to further the Company's strategic goals; meets with regulators, stakeholders/customers and industry groups.

  • Represents the Company by participating in Regional Transmission Operator (RTO) and/or Independent System Operator (ISO) committees and task forces to protect and further enhance the Company's interest on key initiatives; participates in internal debrief meetings to develop consistent messages within each forum.

  • Intermediate and Senior Level: Participates in internal strategy debrief meetings to formulate the company's strategic goals.

  • Intermediate and Senior Level: : Serves as case manager to lead administrative and strategic development efforts for regulatory filings with company personnel, consultants, outside counsel and others as needed.

  • Intermediate and Senior Level: Represents the Company within industry coalition groups and advocates for policies concerning the development of transmission infrastructure.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree; relevant, equivalent experience and/or education will be used to determine level placement.

  • Associate Level: Some experience as a Regulatory Analyst or similar responsibility preferred.

  • Intermediate Level: Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Regulatory Analyst or similar responsibility required.

  • Senior Level: Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Regulatory Analyst or similar responsibility required.

  • Utility regulatory experience is preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including: the ability to convey complex information clearly, concisely and effectively.

  • Logical problem-solving skills and the ability to thoroughly research issues and analyze various types of information.

  • Ability to elicit the support of internal subject matter experts to respond to various regulatory issues.

  • Ability to understand and interpret the effects of FERC and various state utility commission rules and regulations on the Company.

  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment; capable of working on multiple projects and tasks and completing the necessary work to meet time deadlines.

  • Ability to travel for Company business, including overnight stays, possibly up to 50% of the time.
