Your Role: As a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer in Exploratory and Innovation, you will be using engineering expertise to guide the company in exciting new directions. Your daily tasks will include directing internal and external development teams as the subject matter expert or technical lead on next generation product lines focused on the Intensive Care Unit. We tackle problems wholistically from a systems perspective based on validated user needs. Projects vary and could include assay development, electromechanical devices, disposables or containers and solutions. This would be an individual contributor role under the general direction of a functional manager interfacing with a global team. What you will be doing: Embraces accountability for critical decisions and deliverables within area/role of responsibility and expanded complexity. Applies diligence in determining the best solution(s) for technical issues. Focuses on critical information without getting bogged down in unnecessary detail. Applies architectural & design skills working with senior development engineers to decompose the System Requirements into a structured hierarchy of sub-systems and interfaces. Responsible for overall requirements management and may lead risk management activities including cybersecurity. Applies creative thinking to resolve issues. Creates design concepts and research methodologies that meet current and future customer & business needs for a product or process domain area. Understands clinical and user needs and can apply to product realization. Understands and contributes to resolution of competing constraints among inter-related functions. Contributes to the program/project or the organization's technical strategy. Demonstrates good business judgment in balancing budget, profitability, and vendor relationships; understands business financials and resulting impacts that decisions have on the business. Thorough understanding and drives application of phases of life cycle management Can perform as an independent reviewer in technical and design reviews. Leverages knowledge of technology, process, and/or therapy domains to drive solutions and product design realization. Proposes and drives solutions to sophisticated technical problems. Recognized within the immediate team for technical and/or process expertise as evidenced by solicitation for input on a variety of issues. Engaged and respected within the team, for example may function as LSD or PDO for products or as a subject matter expert on technical problems. Demonstrates understanding of and adherence to FDA, ISO and IEC design control procedures, regulations, and standards within area of responsibility/expertise. Applies risk scenarios, technical risk mitigation tools and complete mitigation strategies to ensure optimal results. What you will bring: B.S.in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Bio-Medical, Software Engineering or applicable work experience. Minimum 10+ years of medical device related experience. Strong Experience in project, requirements, and risk management. Display a solid understanding of theories/practices applied by other fields outside primary area of expertise. Ability to convince management on courses of action with minimal assis ance using both written and verbal methods. Effectively operate in and may facilitate cross-functional teams. Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $112,000.00 to $154,000.00 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
