Microsoft Corporation Power Infrastructure Project Manager, Energy Markets in Quincy, Washington

As a Power Infrastructure Project Manager, Energy Markets you will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield, and retrofit engineering and design projects.  You will project manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the Datacenter power infrastructure to align with Microsoft’s datacenter capacity roadmap.

The Power Infrastructure Project Manager, Energy Markets will support datacenter interconnection and electric infrastructure development contracts with utilities and third-party suppliers.

The Power Infrastructure Project Manager, Energy Markets will possess a high level of proficiency in transmission and substation design and construction. The Power Infrastructure Project Manager, Energy Markets will work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast-paced environment.

The Power Infrastructure Project Manager, Energy Markets will support datacenter interconnection and electric infrastructure development contracts with utilities and third-party suppliers. The Power Infrastructure Project Manager, Energy Markets will support datacenter interconnection and electric infrastructure development contracts with utilities and third-party suppliers will support our Data Center Energy Markets teams in the United States (Eastern, Central, or Western regions).

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and deliver Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter power infrastructure including the development of new technology and advanced concepts from pre-programming through design development, construction, and the turnover to Operations. 

  • Provide infrastructure coordination, management, and overall leadership for our datacenter power infrastructure projects to ensure alignment with scopes, schedules, and budget.

  • Engage with key MS stakeholder groups within Microsoft as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering. 

  • Support data center energy projects through due diligence and internal business reviews.

  • Route, track, review, and monitor key contracts, agreements, and other instruments needed to support our energy strategy.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience in consulting engineering or construction of substations

  • Experience as a lead engineer, design manager or project manager of transmission or substation projects

  • Experience with datacenter engineering or construction

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 6+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Electrical Engineer or Professional Engineer is a plus

  • Ability to lead teams of engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large datacenter environments.

Sourcing Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
