Job Summary:

The Program Supplier Quality Engineer (PSQE) is the primary quality interface between Raytheon’s organization and the external supply base. The PSQE provides both communication of requirements and performance feedback to suppliers as well as being a conduit for quality information back to internal functions within Raytheon. The PSQE’s role includes planning and execution of supplier engagements, problem resolution, meeting facilitation, and continuous improvement activities through APQP supplier engagements. The PSQE will perform analysis of defect data, to identify and act on systemic supplier quality issues. In addition, the PSQE is a key player in the facilitation and management of supplier risk mitigation, problem resolution, and development. The PSQE represents Raytheon professionally and supports the RTX vision, values, strategy, and goals.

Location Information:

The position primarily interfaces with the program team in the Tucson AZ area, and the ideal candidate should be within commuting distance to the Tucson facility and will home office hybrid schedule. Some travel can be expected as part of this role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Interpreting purchase order (PO) quality notes and quality requirements to ensure subcontractor/ supplier understanding.

  • Ensuring flow down of product requirements both internally and to sub-tier suppliers through PO requirements and statement of work content. Ensuring compliance with these quality requirements.

  • Assessing subcontractor/supplier quality capabilities throughout the program life cycle to achieve full program objectives.

  • Identifying supplier risk and systemic performance issues ensuring root-cause analysis and corrective solutions are identified and implemented with closure plans.

  • Driving continuous product/ process improvements using statistical / analytical improvement tools such as Six Sigma and lean methodologies.

  • Application of APQP processes related to supplier performance and implementation of necessary engagements to improve supplier manufacturing processes.

  • Working with other quality functions and cross business teams to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communication skills.

  • Participating in supplier design, process change, qualification test, and procedure reviews.

  • Proactively assess and monitor suppliers’ technical, quality & delivery risks, develop risk mitigation actions and manage input to program risk registers

  • Oversee development and execution of program specific supplier engagement plans

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience in quality, supplier, manufacturing, or related engineering discipline.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM).

  • Experience working with one or more of the following aerospace or commercial equivalent preventative tools - SPC, FMEA, QFD, PPAP.

  • Previous experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

  • Experience with one or more of the following standards: ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9145, or MDA Assurance Provisions.

  • Experience in drawing interpretation, hardware inspection techniques, work instructions, and purchase order.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma, Lean, and/or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.)

  • Proven successes in building and maintaining relationships with multiple suppliers/ customers.

  • Experience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test, and delivery.

  • Experience in engineering, development, project planning, and collaborating remotely.

  • General statistical process control knowledge, including implementation.

  • General knowledge of industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)

  • Strong technical engineer with excellent communication skills that exhibits presence and influence and self-managed technical contributor.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
