Job Summary:

AID is looking for an Emergency Communications Center Dispatcher to work in Tullahoma, TN.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receives, processes, and disseminates emergency and non-emergency information required to operate the Emergency Communications Center (ECC).

  • Dispatches fire, medical, protective services, and other emergency response vehicles and personnel as appropriate to aircraft, structural, hazardous materials, medical, security, and other emergencies in accordance with Fire and Emergency Services work instructions.

  • Dispatches follow-on resources and maintains follow-on communications as necessary.

  • Receives routine phone calls in a professional manner and takes appropriate action.

  • Receives emergency phone calls via the 911 Emergency Reporting System, gathers pertinent information, and gives caller emergency specific directions including Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) information according to established directives.

  • Receives trouble, supervisory, and fire alarms via the Monaco D-21 Public Recorded Radio Alarm System and determines actions required based on type of alarm, building number, and applicable fire system outages.

  • Maintains daily and emergency logs, status of explosives and munitions storage, fire systems and vehicle outages, and additional emergency and routine information in the Automated Civil Engineer System - Fire Department (ACES-FD) database system.

  • Initiates recall of off-duty personnel and makes required notifications during emergency and nonemergency operations.

  • Communicates via radio, in-station public address, and telephone systems to deliver pertinent information to responding crews, including mutual aid responders.

  • Completes recurring proficiency training as scheduled.

  • Reads grid maps and establishes appropriate evacuation cordons, emergency control points, staging, and triage areas during emergency responses in accordance with established AEDC procedures.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed.

emergency response tasks and serving on safety committees and teams.

Procedure Compliance - Each employee must read, understand and implement the general and specific

operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to his/her job.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Four years of full-time work experience directly related to the FDcommunications center or dispatching other emergency services.

  • Possess a valid state issued Driver's License.

  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, computer-aided dispatching programs.

  • Must understand general FD and EMS operations and terminology. Must have a working knowledge computerized fire alarm and reporting systems.

  • Can attend and successfully complete on- and off-site training courses as required by the USAF or the Company.

Certification Requirements:

  • At minimum certified as a Public Safety Telecommunicator I & II or equivalent through an accredited program and be certified to Hazardous Material Awareness level.

  • DoD certification to the Telecommunicator I & II are preferred.

  • Certification as Emergency Medical Dispatcher through an accredited program (APCO is Preferred).

  • Candidates not holding DoD or APCO certifications may be required to earn applicable certifications in a designated time frame.

Additional Licenses or Certifications:

If not presently qualified, must be able to obtain and maintain Company selected certification to perform Emergency Medical Dispatch duties in the allotted period of time.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Requires being physically and mentally able to perform the assigned work.

  • Must be able to speak in a clear manner and be temperamentally suited for the position,and be able to remain calm and act decisively during emergencies.

  • Must remain alert during periods of inactivity and when carrying out repetitive operations and works harmoniously with various personnel. It is a condition of employment to wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment according to supervisory direction and company policy..
