Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Safety Policies: create, review, and update safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards. Reinforce safety policies, guidelines and procedure set out by the Company.

  • Conduct Risk Assessments: identify potential hazards in the workplace through regular inspections and risk assessments. Analyze data to determine trends and areas for improvement and help close out actions.

  • Provide Safety Training: develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, supervisors and managers. Partner with the site to identify safety training gaps.

-Investigate Incidents: lead investigation efforts for accidents, injuries and near misses to determine root cause and develop strategies for prevention. Document findings and make recommendations for corrective actions. Support HR with Worker's Compensation and return to work program.

  • Manage Safety Programs: oversee the implementation and monitoring of safety programs and initiatives, such as behavior-based safety programs, safety committees, and employee engagement initiatives. Lead the implementation and evolution of maturity level within the Safran HSE Standards, equivalent to ISO 14001/ ISO 45001.

  • Monitor Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and ensure that the organization remains compliant with all applicable laws and standards. Act as a primary interface with local, state and federal regulatory authorities regarding HSE matters.

  • Promote a Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety throughout the organization by promoting awareness, encouraging participation, and recognizing achievements in safety performance.

  • Coordinate Cross-Functionally: collaborate with other departments, such as HR, operations, and facilities, to integrate safety considerations into all aspects of the organization's activities. Act as a liaison and advisor to the site leadership team.

  • Conduct Safety Audits and Inspections: perform regular audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify and address safety deficiencies.

  • Emergency Preparedness: improve and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to ensure that employees are prepared to respond effectively to all foreseeable emergency scenarios.

  • Health, Safety & Environmental Management: oversee environmental health and safety programs, which include managing hazardous waste disposal, monitoring air and water quality, managing permits/renewals/appeals and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: collect and analyze safety data to track performance metrics, identify trends, and measure the effectiveness of safety initiatives.

Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and could be subjected to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold and vibration.

• The noise level in the work environment could be unusually loud at times (protection will be provided, if necessary).

Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.

• The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Successful candidate must be a United States citizen. This position requires use of information or access to hardware, which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree in occupational or industrial safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Human Resources, Engineering, Business, or related field; AND

• At a minimum, at least three years of experience within the health, safety, and environmental field; AND

• Experience performing and/or supporting HSE-related audits/inspections

Knowledge/Skills

• Must possess and demonstrate leadership skills.

• Strong business acumen and successful at driving companies EHS initiatives

• Flexible team player who thrives in environments requiring ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent projects.

  • Capacity to lead and inspire others to prioritize safety and participate in safety initiatives.

• Emotionally resilient and able to drive projects effectively for excellence against demanding targets in a complex, multi-disciplined environment

  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal safety regulations applicable to the facility.

• Ability to build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers

• Strong conflict management skills

• Software proficiency covering wide variety of applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Capable of working in a deadline-oriented environment

• Demonstrate common knowledge with managing worker's compensation programs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong knowledge of aerospace and MRO activities and associated regulations.

• Professional certifications desired (i.e. CHMM, CEP, QEP, REM, CSP, CIH, etc.);

• HazMat certification desired (DOT and RCRA). Indirect
