Sensata Technologies, Inc. Area Sales Manager in Italy

We are looking for a colleague who can combine their commercial/technical experience to strengthen and expand Sensata’s position in the EMEA markets. Sensata’s Clean Energy Solutions business offers cutting edge technologies like Contactors, Fuses & Smart disconnects, Battery Management Systems and Isolation Monitoring devices for applications/end markets like Energy Storage Systems, (light) Electrical Vehicles, DC Chargers, Power Distribution Systems & Battery Packs.

In this role as Area Sales Manager you will be responsible for achieving significant long term sales growth and customer satisfaction. You will develop business by setting up and enhancing strategic partnerships. Within our CES Business Unit this means that you partner with (big) OEMs and system integrators within renewable energy generation, storage and distribution sectors and consult our products & technologies to provide sensing and safety solutions.

Examples of applications and markets where we as CES business unit are focusing on are Energy Storage Systems, (light) Electrical Vehicles, Chargers, Invertors, Power Distribution Units & Battery Packs whether linked to renewable resources like Solar, Wind, Hydro or Hydrogen.

General Responsibilities

  • Responsible for new account development and/or expanding existing accounts within an established geographic territory/product line.

  • Pursue sales leads

  • Lead in visits to existing and new customers

  • Analyze customer needs and suggest appropriate products and services

  • Respond to customer enquiries; and conclude sales orders to meet established revenue targets

  • Innovates and creates sales skills and knowledge of the organization's products, services, and customers

  • Perform supplier audits on site at distributor warehouse locations

  • Identify and implement efficiency opportunities such as distributor dashboards, etc.

  • Initiate regular communication with distributors to mitigate shipment errors and discrepancies

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

You will be part of the European CES commercial organization and report to the European Sales Leader Clean Energy Solutions based in Hengelo (O) the Netherlands. In this key role within our commercial team in Europe, you will be responsible for managing existing accounts and driving business development to achieve growth, profitability and market share objectives by prospecting new accounts, identifying the customer needs and delivering the solution. Experience within the technology sector is required, preferably in a Clean Energy, electrification or related field.

You will be working from a home office in Italy and closely working together with our European Business Center in Hengelo, The Netherlands as well our R&D and production sites in Denmark, US, Mexico, and China.

Responsibilities

  • You work closely with customers/prospects to identify applications and win new business opportunities.

  • You will coordinate with your marketing and engineering colleagues within the total supply chain.

  • You build and expand relationships with existing and potential customers and seek to “design in” the company’s current and future technology to customers’ future products.

  • You pro-actively communicate Sensata Technologies value proposition to the customer and manage customer expectations.

  • You give feedback of market requirements & competitor activities to the marketing department and product groups.

  • You are responsible for the commercial negotiations, technical communication with the customers and contract management.
