The Product Safety Project Lead is responsible for planning and executing projects establishing and improving product safety processes and procedures, as well as extending the adoption of these processes and procedures to our global subsidiaries. Responsibilities also include planning and executing projects to address specific product safety issues, such as product recalls and field campaigns. The position requires technical and business process knowledge, strong people leadership skills, project management experience, and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.

This position works closely with functional leaders in the establishment of procedures (engineering, service, operations, supply chain, quality, and IT) and tactical leaders in the execution of recalls and field campaigns (sales, engineering, service, operations, supply chain, and quality).

This position reports to the Senior Manager Product Safety.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead key projects to extend product safety best practices to global subsidiaries.

  • Lead projects to improve existing procedures related to product safety.

  • Lead recall and field campaign projects.

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing or other technical discipline OR equivalent work experience

  • 2 years of experience in product design/development focused in engineering, brand or product management or equipment, machinery or other powered products

  • 1 year of project experience in manufacturing of equipment, machinery, or other powered products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated Project Management experience with cross-functional teams related to business process improvement.

  • Demonstrated Project Management experience handling several projects simultaneously.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong ability to deliver results while working simultaneously on multiple projects; balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes

  • Strong ability to develop effective business processes

  • Ability to influence people and teams who are not all direct reports

  • Strong team building and leadership skills

  • Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, manufacturing, supply chain, service, customer service, financial, sales, and marketing as related to product design and development

  • Strong communication skills

  • Self-driven, highly motivated, flexible and high capacity to learn

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting; close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
