WILLIAMS COUNTY Maintenance Technician in Williston, North Dakota

The Maintenance Technician performs various maintenance and repair functions for the upkeep of Williams County buildings, facilities, and grounds.

Examples of Duties

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents in this position. The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and may change with or without notice. Incumbents must be able to perform the essential function of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repairs involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and groundskeeping
  • Repairs minor plumbing issues, water leaks, and addresses sewer-related problems
  • Executes minor electrical tasks, including changing lights and installing electrical plugs
  • Maintains public grounds, including lawn maintenance, snow removal, and upkeep of walkways/parking
  • Performs custodial duties, including cleaning floors and collecting garbage
  • Ensures County buildings and grounds are safe and maintained, reports areas of concern to supervisor
  • Repairs and maintains County equipment, including lawnmowers, tractors, trucks, and tools
  • Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code
Typical Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GEDANDthree (3) years of maintenance and/or janitorial experience;ORan equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Must possess a valid North Dakota Drivers License or equivalent
  • Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening

Special Working Conditions:

  • Some work is performed outdoors with exposure to extreme temperatures and inclement weather
  • Some work is performed in and around mechanical, industrial, and electrical equipment
  • Exposure to chemicals, sewage, and dust
  • Required to lift up to 60 pounds
  • Occasional work outside of regular hours

Compensation:Starting salary ranges from $25.50 to $30.50/hour depending on experience and training.
